Articulation (Speech) Therapy
Articulation and speech therapy helps children learn to produce sounds clearly and confidently so they can be understood at home, in school, and in everyday interactions. When a child has difficulty saying certain sounds—like “r,” “s,” “sh,” or “l”—or their speech sounds unclear or inconsistent, targeted intervention can make a world of difference.
Some children benefit from speech therapy because they have articulation errors, meaning specific sounds are produced incorrectly (like a “w” for an “r”). Others may have a phonological disorder, where patterns of errors affect whole groups of sounds—for example, always leaving off final consonants or substituting easier sounds for more complex ones. In these cases, therapy focuses on teaching the rules and sound patterns of speech so communication becomes clearer and more efficient.
Another diagnosis we treat is Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), a motor-planning speech disorder. Children with CAS know what they want to say, but their brain has difficulty coordinating the precise movements needed for speech. Therapy is structured, repetitive, and highly supportive, helping children build accurate sound sequences and develop more natural-sounding speech over time.
At Kidspeak Therapy, articulation and speech sessions are fun, purposeful, and individualized. We use evidence-based methods, play-based learning, and clear home-practice strategies so families feel empowered between sessions. Our goal is simple: to help your child speak with clarity, confidence, and joy.
If you have concerns about your child’s speech, a comprehensive evaluation can help determine the best next steps—and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
