CAPDOTS™ (Computer-Assisted Program for Dichotic Training)
CAPDOTS™ (Computer-Assisted Program for Dichotic Training) is a cutting-edge, web-based auditory training program designed to support children and adolescents diagnosed with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD). CAPDOTS™ specifically targets weaknesses in binaural integration and binaural separation—skills essential for understanding speech in noise, following complex instructions, and listening in real-world environments like busy classrooms.
There are two main CAPDOTS™ programs, each designed to strengthen different auditory pathways:
CAPDOTS™-Integrated
This program focuses on Dichotic Integration Listening Training, using carefully calibrated time lead-lag and interaural differences (DIID-II) to help the brain integrate different auditory signals entering each ear. It is especially beneficial for children with binaural integration deficits, also known as auditory divided attention difficulties. These students often struggle when they must listen to multiple pieces of information at once, filter competing sounds, or combine auditory details across both ears.
CAPDOTS™-Selected
This Dichotic Selection/Separation Listening Training protocol supports children with binaural separation difficulties—those who struggle to focus on one ear while ignoring competing input in the other. This program is recommended for individuals who show atypical interaural asymmetry or who fail Competing Sentences–type testing during their auditory processing evaluation.
Both programs are evidence-based, adaptive, and designed to retrain the auditory system by strengthening neural pathways responsible for processing, filtering, and integrating auditory information.
