Certified Orofacial Myologist in 2020
Amy J. Clayman, MA, CCC/SLP, QOM
Hi! I’m Amy Clayman, proud Jersey girl, theater enthusiast, dog-hugger, and the purple-haired speech-language pathologist behind KidSpeak Therapy. I grew up in Westfield, NJ, earned my BA at the University of Florida (Go Gators!), and completed my Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology at Kean University — where I later returned as adjunct faculty because, apparently, I never really leave school.
I’m a certified member of ASHA and have earned their prestigious ACE Award for continuing education 14 times — most recently in 2024. (When I say I like learning, I mean I really like learning.) I’ve worked in both public and private schools, guest-lectured at universities, and completed advanced training in motor speech, literacy, and orofacial myology. I’m PROMPT Level III trained, a Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM), and earned my IAOM certification in 2020. Basically, if there’s a workshop, certification, or 28-hour intensive about speech, literacy, or oral function… I’ve probably done it.
My specialty is myofunctional therapy for children 5+, including tongue thrust, oral habits, mouth breathing, and all the mysteries of the orofacial complex. I also provide speech, language, and literacy services — both in person for families in the Bethesda/DMV area and online for clients in California and Florida thanks to my multi-state licensure (MD, VA, DC, FL, CA).
I’ve been offering telepractice since 2016, back when Zoom was just “that video thing my cousin uses.” Today, I also help other clinicians learn to deliver high-quality therapy online.
When I’m not in session, you can find me watching live theater (especially when my daughter, Maddie, is onstage), spending time with my family, or petting every dog who consents to being pet.🐶
I’m so glad you’re here — and I can’t wait to support your child’s communication, breathing, and overall confidence.
